GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - He's a standout on the court and on the fields, but a local high school senior has another passion that could take him to the pro's.
It's hard enough being a student and an athlete but imagine throwing professional singer into the mix. One young man is doing it flawlessly.
Eighteen-year-old Jordan Humprey has always been good at sports. He's a member of Lanier High School's baseball, basketball and football teams. But these days, he's getting more attention for his other talent.
"I sang n'sync when I was like five in the back of the car and ever since then my dad has been pushing me to sing because he knew I had that talent and that I could do something with it," student athlete and singer Jordan Humphrey.
"The thing that was amazing about Jordan was that he wasn't just singing the n'sync songs; every time he'd sing the song, he'd sing a different part. So he'd go right in order of all the harmonies and he didn't even know he was doing it," said Jordon's father, Jody Humphrey.
So when Jordan takes to the field or the court, he pulls double duty; playing in the game and singing the national anthem -- making life a little harder in the locker room.
"My boys always make fun of me. I mean, I sing. They have to. I play sports and sing," said Jordon Humphrey
"I think he's very talented just like on the playing field. He told me about his iTunes release and I was one of the first to download it and listened to it and was very impressed," said assistant football coach Korey Mobs.
And now Jordan is going pro -- not in any of his athletic endeavors but his musical pursuits. Having already shared the stage with some the industry's hottest stars, including a stint at the Fox Theater with legend David Foster, Jordan has a new single with R&B Ray Lavender.
Lavender says Jordan has what it takes to go all the way.
"After I told him to sing it like this, not only did he sing it like this, but he took it beyond. Those are the signs of a star," said Ray Lavender.
"I have a passion for sports but being able to touch people through my music and getting to do what I love, that's a dream," said Jordan Humphrey.
Jordan is a senior this year and will be graduating. He says he's going to pursue his music full-time in hopes of becoming the next big star.
