Braves' Bourn heading to All-Star Game after all

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Atlanta Braves center fielder Michael Bourn will be heading to Tuesday's All-Star Game after all.

Bourne replaces Washington Nationals shortstop Ian Desmond who is out with a strained oblique muscle.

The news was shared Saturday via Major League Baseball's Twitter feed. Bourn lost out on a spot in the All-Star Game on Thursday as fans for St. Louis third baseman David Freese out voted him on Twitter.

Bourn will join teammates Chipper Jones, Dan Uggla, Craig Kimbrel, and assistant trainer Jim Lovell in Kansas City.

This is Bourn's second All-Star appearance with his last game being two years ago.
