The family of a woman killed in a hit-and-run crash appeals is appealing for help in locating the driver. Lanzhen Pan, 67, was struck by an SUV as she crossed Hightower Trail in Sandy Springs on September 11.
Pan's daughter, Mandy Walker, is urging the driver to surrender to police.
"I understand you made a mistake. OK, but come out. Admit your mistake," said Walker.
Authorities say the SUV stopped briefly but then sped off down Hightower Trail, which ends at Cherokee Town and the Huntcliff residential community.
"As an accident, we can forgive that. But, it was at the point of hitting her and, as witnesses had stated, the car stopped, observed and then fled. At that point, that's something that most people wouldn't even do to a dog," said Mark Walker, the victim's son-in-law.
Surveillance shows that the SUV appears to be a dark-colored Chevy Tahoe with a white female passenger wearing a white shirt.
The Sandy Springs Police Department is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the driver. Anyone with information is urged to call 404-577-8477.
