There will be no region or state tournament play for the Milton Eagles boys basketball program this season. The Georgia High School Association has placed them on probation for the upcoming season.
GHSA says the reigning boys state champions illegally influenced student athletes to transfer to the school. Former head coach David Boyd resigned over the same issue.
Milton won a couple of state titles under Boyd, who had many future college players on his roster who had transferred from other schools. According to the AJC, GHSA states that Roswell head coach Ty Phillips filed the initial complaints about Boyd last summer when one of his former players sought a transfer to Milton.
The school maintains there was no evidence that Coach Boyd initiated any contact with prospective transfers.
